Shito-ryu Nipaipo is a shortened and simplified version of the Okinawan kata Neipai. This kata was created by Master Kenwa Mabuni. The name is often translated as “28″ but what the “28″ actually refers to nobody is really sure. Coming from Yabiku Takaya lineage this Kata is said to have been brought to Okinawa by the Chinese merchant Wong Ogon Pyon in the mid 1900′s. Nipaipo is often thought to be purely a White Crane kata due to a Crane posture contained within the series of movements and although Nipaipo (Nepai in certain Chinese dialects) does appear in many Fuchou Crane Fist styles the origin of the Kata is actually in Shaolin Lohan Chuan.
