Karate ashi barai video
Info about "Karate ashi barai video"
The leg sweep or foot sweep in Karate is called Ashi Barai. Its primary target is usually just above the ankle but below the knee. This sweeping kick can be delivered with power using your shin as the weapon or by using the sole of your foot.
This is one of the difficult kicks in karate to simulate when sparring and is often banned in many clubs. It works so well that your opponent can be injured as a result. The sweep can be delivered in a couple of different ways, the first is using your shin: you drive a mawashi style kick at your attacker’s leg (above the ankle but below the knee) to take him off his feet.
Another way is using the sole of your foot (teisoku) to scoop your attackers lead leg (just above the ankle) just before he shifts his weight onto it. This requires good timing but doesn’t need great power to deliver.
