It was created as a synthesis of the Southern Martial Arts from China and traditional Martial Arts from Vietnam, Qwan-ki-do comprises various techniques as it follows:
– Multiple hand & leg technique
– Footwork techniques
– Throws, locks and grappling techniques
– Leg sweeps
– Scissor techniques
– Choreographed fights
– Self defence
– Breaking techniques
A Vietnamese martial arts magazine described Qwan-ki-do as: ” The latest born (martial art) of Vietnam, but the first one to cross the finish line ” In Qwan-ki-do, like in all other Vietnamese Martial Arts, special attention is given to weapon training, which starts after the student passes the 1 CÂP exam.
Another part of Qwan-ki-do is the Tam The. In a few words, you can say that Tam The is a slow movements series bound to reach the unity between body and soul. Being a philosophy (Âm – Dýõng ) and also a heal method, Tam The, improves both spirit and soul state. To start practising, you first learn the specific movements, with no special skills required. The second level consists of learning the breathing techniques. The third level is combining the specific movements with the inhaling and the mental activity. Thus you can control the vital energy (Khí) through the human body. The final purpose of Tam The is the unity between the body and spirit, by preserving a good health.
