The step-up knee kick (Kao Yiep in Thai) is a Muay Thai move where the boxer is required to step with one foot on the opponent’s thigh. Then raise his body up using the thigh as the base then thrust the other knee forward hitting the targets like solar plexus, chin or face.
To do this move, using the rear knee to deliver the blow you must be the right handed. Use this move when your opponent is at your opposite side in front of you and having his knees bent a bit too obvious or more than normal. Then you have to step onto his right thigh with your left foot. Lift your right heel off the ground and extend your left arm out in the front and protect your face with your right fist and arm. Then use your right arm or fist to grasp your opponent’s neck from his right. Leap up in the air using your opponent’s thigh as the base like you are stepping up on it. To finish of the move, the boxer has to thrust his right knee forward and upwards diagonally using the cap of the knee to impact on the focused target.
