Muscles used in Judo video
Info about "Muscles used in Judo video"
Judo emphasizes use of the “core muscles” in the majority of techniques. Core muscles include primarily the thorax and abdomen (chest and abdomen). The major muscles of the core reside in the area of the belly and the mid and lower back (not the shoulders), and peripherally include the hips, the shoulders and the neck.
Specifically, major core muscles include the pelvic floor muscles, transversus abdominis, multifidus, internal and external obliques, rectus abdominis, erector spinae (sacrospinalis) especially the longissimus thoracis, and the diaphragm. Minor core muscles include the latissimus dorsi, gluteus maximus, and trapezius.
The importance of the core muscles is due to the mechanism of both locomotion (stabilization of the spine and pelvis) and the center of gravity for the human body as well as the mechanism for generating power in martial arts techniques which is known as “kinetic chains”.
